My experiences as a talent scout

Sometimes, the most interesting things in your life arrive with pure coincidence. I have started to work as a talent scout two years ago when I met one of my schoolmate's father who was the CEO of a sport management agency. He encouraged to get myself involve in this job since I am originary from Cameroon, and this country is full of talented soccer players as Samuel Eto'o fils, Achille Emana or the fantastic Roger Milla. Thanks to my connections I have been able to detect two fabulous players in formation in the Cameroonian team, "Cotonsport of Garoua". The two players were Jacques Zoua, 17 years old at the time and Aboubakar Vincent 16 years old. The first one was a member of the juniors national team and the second one belonged to the Cadet. With some partners, and thanks to the videos of some of the games Zoua played during the junior african cup, we were able to propose him to the swiss team, FC Basel which was immediately interested. I arrange for a Visa for him, and he went to Basel in Switzerland for a few days and scored 2 goals in 45 min. FC Basel has immediately proposed to him a four years contract. Moreover, since I was mandated by Cotonsport to negociate his transfert, I succeeded to get for the club the sum of 400.000 dollars, which is a pretty high amount for an african team. Zoua has made an excellent first season and had been called up for the national team to attend the world cup. Unfortunately for him, he had a injury during the last game of the swiss championship. I would tell you more about Aboubakar Vincent story in my next post.

Soccer Player Agent : A Fantastic Job

Soccer is the most popular Sport in Africa. Each national team is entirely supported by the population of his country so that people could think that we are fanatics. Indeed, in my country, Cameroon, Soccer is even use by the president as a political tool. This is why one day I decided to become a soccer player manager. I wanted to help young people with a lot of talents, allow them to have a better future the poor one toward which they would be probably destined without a professional football career. I feel myself like being a saver, doing something for others, and that completely fit in my objectives since I want to be a philanthropist. Being an agent brings you to a particular and fabulous life full of travels all around the world to watch different games and players, a life that allows you to sleep in the most beautiful hotels of the worlds, to eat in the greatest restaurants and to meet ones of the most interesting and important persons in this this world. However, it is not an easy work; it is extremely hard to find a good player that fit in the criteria of the professional soccer, and even when you find him, you have to fight against the others, sometimes dishonest, agents that would like to sign him too. Excepting this side of the job, seeing the fact that it is well paid, and you have a lot of free time and fun, I can only encourage people to respect it.

The bad side of Globalization on Africa

There are many different kind of agreement that exists in this world whether fair or unfair. However, the most important element is to respect the equity and obtain the satisfaction of all the parties involved in a deal. The concept of globalization has been developed in the aim of increasing international relations on commercial purposes. Unfortunately, Globalization is not as equitable for all countries as it should be. It has been more profitable for the rich countries than for the poor ones. Indeed, Africa for example, encounters some disadvantages with the globalization; it is unconceivable that you have a product and you are not allow to pricing it. African people produce products that they sell to the rich countries at the price decide by these latter. Even problems with currencies do not help African merchants to develop import and export. African people have to buy goods in euros but they have to sell their products in euro. Since euro is stronger than dollar, that simply means that, they sell cheaper or more expensive they product depending of the value of the dollar at the time of the selling. Moreover, the rich countries decide the rules and the decisions that are applied to globalization. That is why a reform of globalization is important to make this interesting solution to respect its principal objectives.

"People particularly Americans should travel more"

I think you can consider yourself as a lucky person if you have had the opportunities to visit new countries and to share your values and culture with people coming from another community. When I talk about "travel", I'm not only talking about going to a foreign country, but also about discovering a new community, new ways of acting, thinking and living. You can discover for example that because of the colonization, you can encounter in two different bordering countries two populations coming from the same ethnic group that has been divided by the delimitation of the borders. Knowing this, we can now avoid doing the same error in the future. We all heard about the word "racism" or "xenophobia" but, but who really understand their significance and how these ideas growth up in people head? Racism and xenophobia are in reality the fear of others, the fear and the apprehension of all what we don't know or seen before. Taking the time to know better other communities, allows to avoid the conception of racism in our head, because you better understand the others. Being myself an international student, every day I gain benefits from being in close contacts with Americans, Chinese, and people coming from all over the world, because I learn everyday new techniques, and I do what we call borrowing from another culture, to ameliorate myself and back to my country in the future to apply all what I would have learned.
